R&D SCIENTIST - INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY

Requisition Code: DX-005       Location: Gaithersburg, MD   Schedule: Full time or Part Time

3i Diagnostics, Inc. (www.3iDx.com) is seeking an engineer to join our early stage exciting startup which is an emerging technology company. After years of research we are ramping up development. This person will join the founders working in a small BSL-2 lab creating a new technology platform for rapid microbial identification. This will involve development and optimization for improved capability as well as scalability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our team wishes to characterize microorganisms using vibrational spectroscopic methods, especially Infrared spectroscopy and develop methods and instrumentation for monitoring their behavior in different environments. Our laboratory has developed novel instrumentation and interfaces that have improved the sensitivity of detection and enable the use of these methods for rapid microbial identification. The position will be responsible for advancing our efforts in any (or all) of the following areas: (i) instrumentation, (ii) characterization of spectral markers of microorganisms, (iii) computational methods to improve specificity of the methods, and (iv) optimization of the procedure.

This is a great opportunity to join a start-up and get to experience every aspect of developing and launching a genuinely new technology that is focused on addressing the largest issue in global healthcare as measured in lives and cost.

QUALIFICATIONS:
